Anticipating an Anniversary

This blog post [http://lalascraps.typepad.com/lala-scraps/2009/07/autumn-in-holland---anniversary-2008-mini-book.html] by my scrappin' friend Mel, inspired me to dig out my anniversary mini album I created for my, now, husband.

As August is around the corner, I am anticipating our 3rd anniversary of togetherness. I made this mini album for him August 11, 2007 featuring photos of the two of us throughout our first year of dating.

I don't think I've looked at since, although he has it lovingly displayed on his desk shelf. Here's a peek:

Sunday Sketches

I'm going to post on Sunday the layouts I made from sketches for various challenges. Feel free to comment and link your own!

Here is the weekly sketch for Let's Scrap.

I decided to use the pictures I took of the bar and grill "Seacrets" in Ocean City. I had a lot of pics, so this sketch was perfect. I used my new journaling stamps for the side embellishments. This is the first time I think I have used the little page turns. I like how it turned out!

Here is the weekly sketch for 52 Sketches..52 Weeks.

I used 2 pictures, instead of 1 and cropped them so they would be proportional. My husband and brother went to see Larry the Cable Guy do his stand up. Since the pics are from my brother's camera phone, I inked the edges of the layout to mirror the blurriness. I didn't go to the show, but love the movie Cars ~ so I used this Disney embellishment of the character Larry did the voiceover for. Again, the journaling stamps came in handy here!

Join the fun, link your layouts or other sketch blogs/challenges in the comments.

Scrapbook Etc. July 09 [part 1]

My husband picked up this magazine for me last weekend. I wanted to spend the weekend scrapping, but being homeowners you know to expect the unexpected. So we ended up at our home away from home ~ Lowes! Which is conveniently located next to a JoAnn Fabrics. After expressing my scrappers block, he suggested this magazine because one of the cover stories read "wedding pictures".

I typically am a Creating Keepsakes girl. But, I loved the layout on the cover and the other topics seemed to fit my style too so I picked it up. What a pleasant surprise! I thought this issue was packed with ideas and inspiration. It is 7 days later and I am only half way through. I like to pour over each page, sketch out layouts that I think of while reading and also visit sites that they suggest and of course look up new product that is featured.

What I've "Post it noted" so far:

1. This featured color combo ~ brown, blue, green and white

2. These super cute fabric tags and albums

3. Hilarious t-shirts at shop.cafepress.com/scrap-apparel

The picture will not load, but my favorite reads "Runs with scissors" :) Appropriate because I teach the opposite in my classroom.

4. Advertisement for Basic Grey's Lemonade - YUMM-O!

5. Pinwheels on summer pages (they used Bo Bunny's new Calypso collection)

6. Felties by Sassafras

... more coming soon !

I Love Etsy

I don't remember exactly how I stumbled onto http://www.etsy.com/, but I remember thinking "when I need a unique gift idea for that person who has everything" GO there. And I have, many times. I love the creativity, and how I can spend an hour clicking around and have enough inspiration to scrapbook for days. One snow day last winter, I created my own Etsy shop on a whim and posted a few pre-made pages. Nothing sold, but it was a great "jump in and get my feet wet" experience. Now I'm revamping my store and starting up this blog again to connect with others who have the same passion I do.

Which leads to the point of my first post.. I was blog surfing this afternoon and found http://creativityandlove.blogspot.com/ . Jodie's blog header made me smile. Being a teacher, I just love it. Anyway, she started her own Etsy shop with scrapbook embellishments and is having a promotion to get the word out. Just link to her shop http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7397901 and post 3 or more of your favorite items. She is generously picking *10* winners to receive a box of goodies from her store! Here are the things that I love:

Red Poppy Embellishments

Patchwork Flowers

Pink Doilies
Check back soon as I am going to be posting my own promotion, when I finish uploaded a few projects to my Etsy [ scrapwithsuzy.etsy.com ]. Thanks!
