Cute as a Cupcake!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday yesterday! I decided not to brave the crowds this morning, and scrapped a little instead of shopping :) I used this sketch from Artful Delight.

I used pictures of our sweet niece, Alexandra, on her 1st birthday earlier this year. She was all smilies in her new cupcake dress! I decided to run with it..

I am also linking this layout to Sketches in Thyme this week - which was to use any sketch :) I love how colorful these cupcake are from Create a Critter. I cut them at 1.75" which was perfect for these 2 inch squares.

Don't you love this "Cupcake Poppy" from Tessa's shop? She is known for her felt and fabric flowers, but recently  updated Precocious Paper with TONS of unique embellishments. I love how this poppy goes with my theme (it's a cupcake wrapper!) but the tulle she used brings out the other details in Alexandra's dress too. Check them out :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Wrap it Up !!

Abby has a fun challenge posted at The Paper Variety!

Gift bag/box

I made a gift bag, using a recycled brown paper lunch sack.

Simple and cute! My favorite part is the white threading water punch under the topper. I love white embossing on darker colors like that red, too.

So, show us what you have!  Scrappy Jo's is sponsoring this week's prize. Link up for a chance to win some amazing goodies from American Crafts!

Hot Chocolate Slider!

Tis the season! Cristina posted a challenge to create a project using hot chocolate. I have seen quite a few of these slider cards popping up on different blogs I read so I decided to try one.

I used paper from Imaginisce's Polar Expressions collection. I embellished the front with cuts from A Child's Year. 2 green brads at the bottom seals it.

Pulling on the ribbon will slide the cocoa mix out! It can be easily re-inserted, too which is nice.

I even embellished the back with coordinating cardstock, another snowflake and "to/from" stamps from Scrappy Mom Stamps. I will be using these again and again in the coming weeks for sure :)

If it gets any chillier here tonight I will be drinking this one myself ;)

Whew, all that said - Happy Thanksgiving! I can't believe the holidays are right around the corner. I am so thankful for all of the blessings in my life this year. It's going to be a busy time at our house, so I decided I would get a jumpstart on my Thanksgiving layouts.

I made this double page layout using Imaginisce's Apple Cider collection. I love these patterns!

I found this poem on the internet and thought it was so appropriate! I printed it on my computer and matted it with coordinating paper. I embellished the corners with gold, metallic brads.

I also cut these adorable turkeys from my Create a Critter cartridge! I made one a boy and one a girl ;)

Don't you love that Apple Cider word paper? So festive. Speaking of "apple cider" that is the name of this fall kit from Scrapcetera that I am giving away!

Sarah has filled this kit with the latest Bella Blvd collections, chipboard, Jillibean soup sprouts, twine and lots of other fun embellishments.

To be entered to win, this Scrapcetera kit - just become a follower and leave a comment on this post! :) I will draw the winner next Sunday!

I hope you have enjoyed all of the projects, blogs, and people you met along along the way today! I'm the last blog on the hop, so head back to Paper Craft Star and leave a comment saying you finished visited all of us so you will be eligible for the My Favorite Things grand prize.

Through a Bus Window ;)

As soon as I saw this sketch at Ally Scraps - I knew I wanted to use pics from our San Francisco trip. I love how many photos I could use on a 2 page spread without it being too overwhelming.

I used the awesome Basic Grey Wander collection. This was our first full day in California. My hubby booked an all day bus trip that took us to many of the wonderful sights.

Click to view the layout larger.

These are the pictures that I took when we were in the front seat of the double decker bus. What a view! I printed my journaling on the computer, because I had so much to say ;)

I love all the little details on this layout that were inspired by the sketch. I added the name of the tour company to the bus chipboard. I also inked around all the edges in black ink and outlined the corrugated alphas in black pen, too.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Dance in the rain :)

I am SO excited to announce the next challenge at The Paper Variety! Julie Bonner designed a sketch especially for us. Isn't it wonderful! I am so inspired by Julie's work.

Here is the 2 page sketch -isn't it awesome?!

As if that wasn't enticing enough - Sarah from Scrapcetera is sponsoring this week. Her brand new November kit!!

Here is the layout I created - my 2nd in our San Francisco album. This time I used Basic Grey's Wander collection.

The title quote was perfect for our one day of bad weather (which didn't stop us from buying umbrella's and walking from one end of the city to the other!) -

Stop by The Paper Variety to see the fabulous layouts the rest of the design team created based on Julie's sketch! We would love to see your interpretation, too! :)

Blessings!

It's so great to be back to crafting :) There is a new challenge up at Cricut Cardz! Use the colors blue, brown, orange and white to create a Thanksgiving card.

I decided to go different and create a long and skinny card. I cut orange cardstock 9" x 7.5" and scored/folded at 3 3/4". It fits perfectly in a business envelope! I used some scraps from my patterned paper drawer that fit the color challenge perfectly.

I cut the word "blessings" from my Storybook cartridge using my fit to length feature. I typed in the letters, hit "fit to length" and set my size to 8 1/2" (since the card length was 9"). Clicking the "ok" button before "cut" will let you know how tall the letters will be so there are no surprises! LOL! Been there, done that, ruined the paper ;) These letters ended up being 1 3/4" tall - perfect.

I completed the rest of my sentiment by stamping mini alphas :) Can't wait to see the Thanksgiving cards you create with these colors. Click over to Cricut Cardz to enter!

Thanks for stopping by today! Would love if you checked out my latest San Francisco layout. So much to be thankful for :)

Happy Together :)

My hubby and I had been away for the past week, celebrating 2 years of marriage in San Francisco! We had such a great time. I already printed a few pictures to start scrapbooking our trip :)

In search of a sketch to spark my creativity again, I came across a blog hop among 5 challenge sites - each with 1 element needed to create your layout entry.

The hop began at Sassy Lil Sketches. Of course, their element to the challenge was a sketch:

Continuing on to ScrapFit, The Cuttlebug Spot, Scrap Tiffany, and Crop Suey the challenge also called for 3 of the same item, paint, lace, and embossing.

So... here's the layout I made featuring papers from the "Happy Together" collection by Fancy Pants. (Click to view larger).

This layout was also inspired by Abby's challenge at The Paper Variety - its as simple as 1, 2, 3. Use 1 color of mist or paint; use 2 flowers; and 3 patterned papers. The Scrapbooking Cottage is our sponsor and Stacy is offering a Bo Bunny "Midnight Frost" kit. Why not play along?!

Here is a close up of the textured banner pieces (Swiss Dots folder to coordinate with the patterned paper). For this reason (triangles) using it for ScrapFit's shape challenge. I also did some light stitching around the middle mat.

TGIF! I hope you are gearing up for a fun weekend! :) Along with unpacking, catching up on laundry, and hanging out with friends - I hope I can squeeze in a few more layouts!

The Paper Variety's 8th Challenge!

The new challenge is up at The Paper Variety!! :)

Our sponsor this week is Tessa's wonderful etsy shop, Precocious Paper !!

I used one of Tessa's flowers on my project this week, too! I created this altered canvas for my best friend's bridal shower next month. I used Bo Bunny's Mamarazzi collection and my Storybook cricut cartridge. Her wedding colors are black and blue so I think it will be perfect :)

I hope you play along! Check out the rest of the design team inspiration and link up your wedding projects here. Have a great day!!
