Cricut Cardz Challenge #57!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've made a card!  Thank goodness there is a new challenge up at Cricut Cardz to inspire me :) The color combination is red, black, and white only. Anything else goes!

I used my new Boys Will Be Boys cartridge to make this fun birthday card.

This is a 4 1/4" square card {I need to make more of these!}. I used my cuttlebug "traffic jam" folder on the red background and inked over it with black. The bike was cut at 2 1/2". I embellished it with 2 black brads. A birthday sentiment from Inkadinkado and I called it a day ;)

I couldn't wait to play with this latest sketch from Sketchy Thursday.

I used some sweet pictures of my puppy Jax and his Christmas toy - the Abominable Snowman from Rudolph! He was so protective of it.

I mostly used Bo Bunny's Midnight Frost collection. So pretty!

I'm also entering this layout into a a few "snow" challenges.

There was a challenge tonight at Let's Scrap. Use any previous sketch and use a year in your title. I was inspired to scrap pictures of this past New Year's Eve. This is the sketch I choose.

I used Bazzill bling cardstock in black for the base layer, which is why it looks a little hazy. It has a really neat shimmer to it. The purple patterned paper is by Recollections. I used my new Martha Stewart "doily lace" punch on the border.

The second page is fun pictures of friends and celebration ;)

The library pocket is also embellished with the "doily lace" punch. Inside holds our resolutions :) Also linking to Cristina's challenge to scrapbook your goals for 2011.

Designer Fridays at Precocious Paper!

It's the first Friday of the month, which means it's my turn to share some Precocious Paper goodies on Tessa's blog today! And what a special treat she has in store for the new year! Tessa makes a variety of cool embellishments - and if you are wondering how to decide which ones to try, she has the perfect solution! Starting this month, she is making a sampler package. I was honored to play with January's!

Gorgeous, no?! I love the teal blue and mustard color combo. I ordered myself a few goodies to coordinate with these embellishments. I highly recommend My Minds Eye "True Blue" and Sassafrass Lass's "Indie Girl" if you are like me and like things to be matchy-matchy ;)

When I saw the name of this month's sampler was "Sunshine in my Soul" I was inspired to dig out the honeymoon album that has been neglected the past few months! 

I made a 2 page layout of pictures from our balcony. We had beautiful french doors we kept open most of the time to enjoy the breathtaking view. Definately "sunshine in my soul". Here are a few close ups...

Cupcake Explosion Box :)

My Pink Stamper is having a design team call for 2 open spots! I'm giving it a whirl with her pink, brown, and green color challenge. You can also choose one other color, I used a creme. A friend of mine is having a baby girl and wanted a creative way to share the baby's gender with family. So, I made a cupcake explosion box using my new-to-me (and current favorite) New Arrival cartridge. 

The outside of the box - uses only brown, green and creme to keep it gender neutral. Each side has a green, scallop square with a letter in the word "baby" to resemeble blocks. These were cut at 3 1/4". I cut the "new arrival" using the circle feature key at 3" and put a piece of brown cardstock behind it. I punched the rim of the lid with my threading water Friskars punch and tied with green shimmery ribbon. Then..

When the lid is lifted ~ the box "explodes" revealing the pink cupcake and embellished inside! Surprise!

I am loving this pink, green, and brown combination ~ thanks Robyn for the color inspiration!

Here are a few close ups - all center cuts were done at 2 1/4", matted on a 2 1/2" creme circle, and layered on a 3 1/4" pink  scallop circle.

  

All pieces of the box include brown or white faux stitching.

The last 2 sides, I brought to life with some super cute Peachy Keen "baby face" stamps at 3/8".

The onsie is my favorite!

Once the cupcake is removed, in case you haven't realized it from all that pink  ~  "It's a girl!!"

Happy New Year!

One of my resolutions this year is to ACT on the inspiration I feel when visiting all of the wonderful blogs out there. I can spend hours reading, learning, contemplating, and *cough*cough*shoppping*cough* instead of actually CREATING. So, starting the new year off right with my friend Mel!

We both LOVE Jen McGuire's blog. A few months ago she paired up with a few other bloggers and they each made different projects using the same stamp set. It was very cool!  So, Mel and I decided that we would use the Hero Arts music background stamp that she so generously gifted me. Thank you Mel :)

Without further ado, here are 3 things I've made *so far* with this versatile cling stamp!!

I started off simple with my new favorite color combo - kraft and black! I cut these stars out on my cricut at 2.5 inches and stamped/inked in black. These will make quick and easy embellishments on my next project!

When I was at my local Michaels, I found this "just a note" wood block stamp in the $1 bin! I knew it would be a perfect pair with the background. I embossed the music stamp in white on red cardstock. I adhered a piece of coordinating red satin ribbon on a white strip (that I punched with my threading water border punch). Last, I stamped the "just a note" in the same color ink and mounted on red and I was good to go!

 I really like how it turned out, so much that I made a matching set of 3. I think my purple is my favorite ;)

Lastly, I made a premade 12x12 layout {another resolution}. I was inspired by my new-to-me Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. This little rocker is so cute! I cut him at 5" with cardstock and silver glitter paper from DCWV. I downloaded and cut the "guitar hero" font with my Sure Cuts a Lot program. The music note background was the perfect touch!

Okay, last holiday post for at least 10 months ;) LOL! I'm ready to undecorate my house today and move on to other wintry fun! But.... I did want to share this layout I made in December that I didn't get a chance to post on my blog until now.

I used Basic Grey's Jovial for this one - love these papers! :)
