Papercraft Star Challenge #16!

There's a card sketch challenge this week at Papercraft Star! Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo digi stamps.

The design team was lucky enough to use one of their stamps on this week's project - I picked this adorable monkey from the critter balloons collection. I turned the sketch and created a portrait card.

Would love to see your take on this sketch linked up at Papercraft Star! You have until noon tomorrow for a chance to win a prize from Bugaboo Digi Stamps! :)

My honey :)

I am so glad my LSS is now carrying Nikki Sivils' stuff! This is her awesome "Willow Bee" line. I couldn't resist a "My Honey" layout ;)

I used my new sewing machine to add orange stitching around the photo mat and left side of the page. I also cut portions of the patterned paper and popped them up for more dimension :)

Love this little bee!

The next challenge is up at The Paper Variety! This week we are challenging you to scraplift one of our fabulous designer's layouts. Lots of inspiration, stop by check out the other DT work and put your own spin on one of their pages :) There is some new Bo Bunny up for grabs!

Need I say more?!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #45!

It's a Thanksgiving challenge at Cricut Cardz this week :) How could I not make the adorable turkey from Create a Critter?!

I cut him at 3" and layered him on a green "belly band" stamped/embossed with "Happy Thanksgiving". The belly band wraps around a criss-cross card fold, which holds a journaling card.

These would make great place cards at our Thanksgiving table and hold notes of gratitude for friends and family members who gather :)

I would love to see your Thanksgiving cards uploaded this week at Cricut Cardz!

Papercraft Star Challenge #15

The challenge this week at PaperCraft Star is to create a project inspired by one of the 7 wonders of the world:

Grand Canyon

The Great Barrier Reef
The Harbor at Rio de Janeiro
Mt. Everest
Northern Lights
Paricutin Volcano

Victoria Falls

I had a fun time deciding what I was going to do - as in Hawaii I did snorkel in a reef, hike a volcano and climb a waterfall! I decided to make a layout featuring pictures from the start of our "lava hike". Click to view larger :)

The volcano was really fun to make! I used the dinosaur accessory on the Create a Critter cricut cartridge. All of the layers were cut at 4 1/2". I knew I wanted to add some dimension with my cuttlebug - but my die cut was too big. Did you know you can insert your dies "sideways" to emboss larger cuts?

I carefully lined up half of my brown layer in the "distressed stripe" folder. It is just wide enough to fit though this direction.

Then, I flipped around the die cut and ran it through again on the other side.

Tada!

I repeated these steps with the orange layer, this time using the "D'vine Swirl" folder.

I really love how it turned out! Stop by and see what the rest of the design team created and link up your project before noon Saturday. Have a great Friday!!

You Lift Me Up!

Have you seen the new challenge over at The Paper Variety, yet? The sky's the limit!!

Easy cheesy, right?! And you could win this fabulous kit sponsored by Stacy at The Scrapbooking Cottage! You have to stop by her store. Free shipping over $25 - all the time! :)

I made a card for this challenge - using some patterned paper and chipboard from this set, as well as some Cosmo Cricket mini alphas...

Can you spot my new "toy"?! Look closely...

Oh yeah, that's my first attempt EVER at machine sewing. Not too bad? I bought this little beauty on Ebay earlier this week and it came tonight.

I thought it would be a good paper crafting sewing machine for a beginner like me. I mean, if I could figure out how to "load" it all up and stitch with it in one evening, anyone could!! Okay, okay, I admit my technology-genius hubby helped me a little bit :P

TGIF !!! Can't wait to play with it this weekend on some layouts.

Sympathy Card

My hubby asked me to make a masculine, sympathy card for his great uncle (who's wife just passed away). I used Basic Grey's Origins 6x6 pad, a Verve faith stamp (thanks April!), a Paper Trey Ink sentiment and this sketch. I really like how it turned out, despite the circumstances.

Hope you're having a great week! :)

Down on the Farm!

Today I used an awesome double page sketch by Julie Bonner! I decided to load up on pictures, from a recent visit with my cousin and her little ones. We took them to a farm near our home.

I used my new goodies from My Little Shoebox - Simple Life and Priscilla collections.

I'm so happy with how this layout turned out! The title was cut on my Cricut with a really cute font downloaded here and paired with the tiny alphas, also from My Little Shoebox.

I backed the cardstock stickers in black cardstock and popped some of them up for added dimension.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a great weekend! :)
