Party Time Tuesdays!

Kristie invited me to be a guest designer for Party Time Tuesdays again this week - the theme is brads!

I used quite a few gold metallic brads to make the flame on this die cut candle really flicker :) I used patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety stack and stamp by Imaginisce.

Brrr!

Robyn posted a challenge on her blog to create a wintry project. I just love the penguin from Create a Critter.

I ran the blue cardstock through my cuttlebug using my snowflake embossing folder. I cut my penguin at 3 inches and stamped my sentiment. Easy cheesy! But love the result.

24 Hour Layout Challenge!

One of the monthly activities at Scrappin-n-Chattin, is the 24 hour layout challenge. You have one day to complete a layout after a sketch and collection is picked for you (based on 3 choices you provide). This month, the following sketch was picked for me to use with Echo Park's Sweet Summertime.

I admit, I didn't care for this sketch - but made it work for me by stretching it to be 2 pages to include more pics (without having to crop them too small). I kept the basic layout of the sketch by using the scalloped border at the bottom and right had side. I also kept the inner square design, top left flower embellishment, and made my title in the center.

You can click the photo to make it larger - the journal reads how my Mom challenged my brother and I to mini golf this summer and the loser had to buy ice cream. Doesn't my brother look thrilled at paying for us?!

Color Challenge Card :)

I loved the unique choices for this color challenge - navy blue, ivory, and mint green. After raiding my scrap drawer for navy and ivory cardstock, I went to my stash of 6x6 pads for a mint green patterned paper.

This green paper from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl is pretty close - it's a light green. I used the same Paper Trey Ink set from yesterdays card.

Very simple but I like it! It's all I've got after a week back to school :)

Papercraft Star Challenge #10!

I love this card sketch, don't you? Clean and simple - and you have until noon tomorrow to enter your project at PaperCraft Star!

School just started back up for me and I like to keep a stash of thank you notes in my desk to write a quick note to parents, my students or one of my coworkers. I used DCWV Grade School stack for my colorful patterned paper. A piece of black satin ribbon brings out the shimmery background. I cut the image from my "A Child's Year" cartridge and used a Paper Trey Ink sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to make some scrappin' time this weekend :) I hope you will too and don't forget to link up your cards to PaperCraft Star so we can check them out.

On Cloud 9 :)

I am submitting a layout for this months Sketchy Thursday's DT sketch!

I made a honeymoon layout with my favorite My Minds Eye collection - "Love Me Do". I was inspired by the hot air balloon paper and thought it would look great for the 'white space' on the sketch.

I actually cut out the same hot air balloon from a 2nd sheet of patterned paper and layered it on pop dots. I tied the pieces together with blue floss. I think it turned out neat and added some interest to that side.

Thanks so much for looking!

Happiness is...

..a day at the beach, of course! It's not too late to post a summery card is it? :) I was inspired by the "Catch the Wave!" challenge. I think i will send this one to my niece who just returned from the beach to wish her a great school year.

I used Imaginisce's "Splash Dance" rub-ons and stamp. This is my first time stamping onto patterned paper and cutting it out! I really, really like it! I used my white gel pen for the eyes and added a brad to her little flower. This opens up a whole new world to me, as I don't usually buy stamps I have to color in (I won this one!) because I don't have copics or anything other than colored pencils.

I cut this little card using my Life's A Beach cart - which has a neat card feature and photo card feature. This is the waves photo card. I used a transparency, instead of a photo though. This is how it looks open.

Thanks for stopping by! See my earlier post for a holiday card. I know, strange, combo right? ;)

Not too early!

All month long, I've been participating in an everyday holiday card challenge at SnC. I went through a funk the last week or so - with card block! I think I had breakthrough today, because I really like how this card turned out. I fell back on a few of my favorite things - my cricut and cuttlebug (which I always forget to pull out!)

I started with a kraft card base and added an embossed beige mat, using my Victorian folder. I cut this holly using the "icon" feature on A Child's Year. I'm loving that cartridge! I used buttons for the berries. The tag sentiment also came from that cart, although on a different key.

I inked all the edges with Walnut dye ink - and for the first time ran my pad over the embossed background to make it pop. I like the effect! I'm entering this card for Mary's Paper Cutz challenge "anything goes".

You can see more of my (and my friend Abby's) holiday cards on our blog The Paper Variety. Today is the last day to enter your own holiday card for a chance to win some Imaginisce "Cottage Christmas" goodies! :)

Papercraft Star Challenge #9!

It's a photo inspiration challenge over at The Papercraft Star!! :)

I kept it simple this week and let my pictures take center stage. I used Bo Bunny's Popsicle line for the patterned papers and journaling spot.

Hope to see your project posted at Papercraft Star! There's a chance to win a $10 gift card to PaperTrey Ink :)

Life is Good.

Thank goodness for Facebook! I almost missed the latest My Minds Eye sketch! I love their products and their monthly sketch challenges. This one is no exception. The theme is summertime. I choose 2 pictures of my nieces at the beach (another reason to thank facebook lol!).

I used the Jack and Jill line from the Quite Contrary collection :) Aren't these 2 the cutest?!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Kristie!

Just wanted to give a birthday shout-out to my friend Kristie! She runs the Party Time Tuesdays challenge blog. Her design team took over for the week and made the challenge to create a birthday card using Kristie's favorite color combo - pink, brown, and white.

Tomorrow is my first official day back to school! :) Need stop crafting and get some zzzzz's.

Renovations

I love a 2 page sketch! And the latest one from Sketchy Thursdays is no exception. I decided to use pics of my hubby working on the garage renovations this past winter.

For the left side, I had lots of little pics of different details (including one of me peeking out the kitchen door I didn't know was taken! lol) so I used 6 smaller ones instead of 4 and also carried the 3rd row over to the 2nd page. The papers are all by Moxie "Do It Yourself" line. :)

The 2nd page I used a 5x7 of a my hubby posing for the camera. I used the backside of one of the patterned papers for the journaling box. It has a subtle green on green tool pattern.

Here is how they look together! :)

Toot, toot!

Do you mind if I toot my own horn for a second? I've been running around like a crazy woman getting things ready for school (I teach the 1st grade). Just got home and checked my email - and my best buddy April sent an email saying that my anniversary card won on the Bo Bunny blog ! :) How cool! What a wonderful surprise.

Thanks for letting me toot my horn! :)

Cheers!

I love this sketch from Sketch Inspiration! I especially like that they gave the dimensions of the circles ;)

I made a layout celebrating the girls lunch I had last Friday. My friend Michelle (2nd in picture) just got "the call" they've been waiting for. Baby Levi will be here in a few weeks!!

I used my precious "Sweet Summertime" papers by Echo Park! Love their lines! This layout also qualifies for 2 challenges at Design Dollies - TV song title and friendship.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Kahului Rainforest

First, I want to say WELCOME! to my new followers. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking an interest in my paper crafts. Leave a comment and I will come check out your projects as well! Most of my inspiration comes from reading blogs :)

I used Let's Scrap's 2 page sketch and kept it simple with a title and a few accents from my Life's A Beach cartridge.

I also used my woodgrain stamp from Hero Arts to stamp my own patterned paper. I think it looks great on this Hawaii layout.

Have a great weekend!
