Trick or Treat *blog candy!*

I *love* this time of year~! Last night was my school's Octoberfest and it's so fun to see all the kids dressed up. I even won 3rd place in the teacher's costume contest! I'm sure you'll see a layout of that soon hehe...

Unfortunately, we live on the outskirts of town so no trick or treaters coming our way. But for stopping by my blog today you could win some...

How about this super cute mini deck?!

Just become a follower (or if you already are - thanks!) and leave a Halloween-y comment ;) Leave another comment with a link back to where you spread the word about my trick or treat for another chance to win! I'll pick the winner Monday morning!

Have a great weekend!

Colorfest!

This fall, my friend Jess and I decided to tackle a new craft fair a few towns down. We didn't know we were going to hit the jackpot! lol. It was so crowded and so fun, we'll make this an annual trip :) I used the latest sketch from Sketch Inspiration.

Here's my page, using the Apple Cider collection from Imaginisce. Love this paper!

And that fall flower is from Tessa's new Autumn Spledor bouquet! A must have.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend ! :)

Papercraft Star Challenge #18!

It's a "thank you" theme at PaperCraft Star this week! I created this fall arrangement, using a "thanks" stamp from Scrappy Mom Stamps.

In addition to a "thank you" theme, your project needs to include dry embossing, cricut (or other) die cuts, and metal. I created this adorable pumpkin, inspired by Crystal's project posted at Split Coast Stampers.

Here is a quick tutorial on how I made it: [click on any of the photos to view larger]

I cut 8 strips of orange cardstock at 2"x8". Then freehanded the "feather" shape. I only ended up using 6 of them.

Then, I ran each of them through my Cuttlebug "D'vine Swirls" folder for the dry embossing element.

Since they are longer pieces, you need to flip them around and run through twice - as I explained in a previous cuttlebug tutorial here.

Then, I cut a strip of brown cardstock at 2"x12" and ran it through my Cuttlebug "Distressed Stripes" folder.

I decided my stem was too tall so I cut the strip in half down the middle and made it 1"x24". This was perfect!

I rolled it around my finger and adhered with adhesive.

Back to the orange strips, I lightly inked the embossed side with brown to bring out the texture. Then curled by hand, pierced a whole in either side and put a metal brad through.

Wala! I added the stem and a diecut leaf (from Create A Critter cartridge). A sheer brown ribbon brings it all together.

This is the accompanying card (same as I posted earlier this week, different sentiment), using Create a Critter die cuts.

Hope to see your project linked up at PaperCraft Star!! :) Our sponsor this week is one of my favorite online stores - The Scrapbook Cottage! Enter to win by noon on Saturday to be eligible for the voting.

Fall birthday card

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Mine has had it's ups and downs! One of the "ups" was creating this adorable fall-themed birthday card for Party Time Tuesdays.

I used Create a Critter for the pumpkin and leaves, Basic Grey Green at Heart 6x6 pad for the patterned paper, and my new Scrappy-Mom's stamp set "Everyday Greetings" :)

Papercraft Star Challenge #17!

This fun Halloween photograph from Martha Stewart Living is the inspiration for Challenge 17. Use it to inspire any papercraft project your heart desires and then be sure to enter your project here any time between now and 12 noon on Saturday October 16. Your entry makes you eligible to win the People's Choice Award Button and Challenge Sponsor Prize, as well as enters you to win the Grand Prize that we will select randomly at the end of the month.

I decided to make an elegant Halloween card, using Basic Grey's Eerie collection. I kept it simple using layers of patterned paper and coordinating cardstock. The sentiment is a Studio G stamp that I embossed in black. I don't normally stamp on patterned paper, but I love the result ;)

One Shoe Can Change Your Life.

Really! Inspired from the current challenge at My Favorite Things and my favorite fictional character -

I will spare you the mushy, gushy details about why I loved this movie growing up and still do today :) My hubby bought me a plaque for Christmas our second year together (and it hangs in my closet) that says "one shoe can change your life".

Which inspired this card -

I love it :) Simple and fun. I cut the shoe with my Sure Cuts a Lot program in grey cardstock and loaded it up with diamond stickles for a sparkly, glassy look :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

Designer Fridays at Precocious Paper!

.. and I am honored to be one of the designers featured today! I made a layout using the recent sketch from Creative Scrappers.

Tessa's new fall flowers, aren't just for fall :) I used one on this summer layout of my husband and I at our new favorite restaurant.

This green fabric and felt flower from the Autumn Splendor bouquet matches perfectly with Basic Grey's Origins collection :)

TGIF! Check back for more projects throughout the month using her wonderful flowers. Browse all the new fall designs in her shop. :) They add tons of texture and dimension to a project! And she's offering 25% off of the flowers showcased today by Heidi and myself. Great deal!
