A Special Graduation!

I just finished my 12th year of teaching first grade. Do the math and you'll find my first students just walked across the stage in their caps and gowns - oh how they've grown into wonderful young men and women! A coworker (who also shared in the joy of her first class graduating) and I attended graduation and were SO proud to congratulate them all in person. I took my first grade class photo from 2004 and held it in this photo of my "little Nate". That bright smile has not changed, even though he's now a foot taller than me!

I used the awesome Bella Blvd "Star Student' collection - with Brenda's sketch:

I am also entering it into Rochelle's challenge:

I have those cute owls on my page :)
Thanks for stopping by - have a great weekend!

I teach - Whats your superpower?

HELLOOOOO Summer Vacation!! :)

Hence my first layout in a LONG time. And guess what? IT'S ABOUT SCHOOL!! LOL!

When I saw this month's sketch at Creative Scrappers.. I knew those stars would be perfect for my superhero themed layout.

Superheroes and school.. you're wondering what's the connection, right?  Well, each year for Teacher Appreciation Week our PTO goes all out with a theme and this year was TEACHERS ARE HEROES. Pretty awesome right?

I spent my first and last time in HOT TOPIC on a Sunday night looking for the perfect superhero shirt to wear to school on that Monday and so glad I did! They  had the whole lobby decorated with skyscrapers, stars, and a telephone booth (( had to explain that one to the kids!! )) Insert I feel old now sigh here.

This slogan was hanging on all of our doors, along with attributes that make us a great hero :) So clever and fun and APPRECIATED.

Side note - how fun is that Wonder Woman flair?! My hubby voted for that and got vetoed. My last name starts with S so my first graders loved my shirt and thought it stood for ME. lol!

Thanks for stopping by today - have a GREAT week!

{back to school}

No telling when I'll be back to school! We're buried under 3 feet of snow here :) But my kiddo is napping, so I am scrapping :)  I am SO glad that Imaginisce is releasing 2 new collections and have started their sketch challenges again. I just love Imaginisce's cute designs and bright colors. Their diecuts are the best!

Here's the January sketch:

Here's my layout, featuring a photo of ME (shocking right) setting up my classroom at the end of last summer. It was napped by our social media person and posted on my district's facebook. How fun to have this memory!

Thankfully, I still had stashed away some of my favorite Geek is Chic collection! Aren't those papers perfect?! The journaling explains this is my TWELFTH year of teaching first grade and that my FIRST class of first graders are now SENIORS. shut the front door people.

If you're on east coast; stay warm! :)

Graduate!

TGIF!! My first graders walked (well.. ran.. lol) through the doors on Wednesday and since then it's been a three day whirlwind! I'm SO exhausted, but it's been a great first week back to school. I've got a wonderful class this year and my student teacher and I are finding our rhythm :)

I was so happy to get a chance to make a layout tonight. And since I was school mode, I wanted to play with my new Basic Grey "Oxford" collection.

I used the latest Sketchy Thursday sketch (I mirrored it, though):

I scrapbooked my "baby" brother's high school graduation photo, taken earlier this summer.

Plaid and polka dots? I'm getting brave! It must be sleep deprivation. But I think I like it ;)

I tried to make a ribbon loop, but it kept fraying when I put the brads through, so I just used some patterned paper scraps...I think I like that look better lol. Funny how those things work out. And who doesn't love Basic Grey's glazed brads? Addicting!

I used a 12"x1" strip of paper to make the "banner" at the bottom in place of the border. I cut my title on my cricut.

I embellished the other side of the banner with the layered stickers ("pops") from the same collection. Love the plaid apple!!!

Thank so much for stopping by today. Hope you had a great week! :)

My Principal :)

Wahoo!! So glad to get back to scrapping this afternoon :) I made a layout for my school album {{I'm a first grade teacher by day}} inspired by the school challenge at ScrapFit and this month's Artful Delight sketch.

I flipped the sketch to make it flow better with my picture. I just love these We R Memory Keepers "Show and Tell" papers and stickers.

I knew I wanted to do a lot of journaling about my former principal {{he retired at the end of last school year}} so this lined, shaped paper was perfect!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Love to Learn

The "Throwback Thursday" challenge a My Creative Time this week is to use the Doodlecharms cartridge.

I used Sketch #5 from Artful Delight:

I made a layout for my school album. Because I won't post pictures of the students in my classroom, I left out the 5x7 picture and journaling of their names :)

The school bus is my favorite cut on this cartridge!

I'm also linking this up to Amanda's "Getting Scrappy" challenge!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! :o)

Papercraft Star Challenge #11!

It's back to school week at PaperCraft Star! The challenge is to use cricut or other die cut embellisments. My friend Vicki was kind enough to send me some cuts from her Doodlecharms cartridge for this layout :) Thanks Vicki!

Yep, that's me - back when everyone called me "Suzy". 1987. Lookin' good... lol! You have until noon tomorrow to link up your projects. Hope to see yours!
