Pretty in Pink

My first bridal shower layout this year... and boy will there be many more :) 2 big weddings (1 down, 1 to go) and lots of parties, planning, and PICTURES! :)

This is the first layout for the bridal shower I did for my best friend's wedding (this past weekend). The photos are of the party preparation and decorations. So pretty!

I used 2 different sketches for the 2 pages.

The first page, used the current sketch at Frosted Designs. I loved the arrangement of the photos!

I had to adapt it for my horizontal pics, but I think it has the same look. I kept the flower embellishments in the same places as well as the journaling elements - hidden tag for the right side and a library pocket (from my friend April!) on the left side. Fun journaling pieces!

For the 2nd page, I used the current sketch at Get Your Sketch On. I loved the center focal point!

I decided to switch my photos to the background quadrants and make the circle an embellishment.

I cut the scallop circle from kraft cardstock and wrapped pink floss around it. I scraplifted this technique from my friend Sandi! I layered another flower and brad on top to carry over the same look from the first page. I just love how it turned out!

This layout is also to highlight The Paper Variety's latest challenge. Abby has a fun theme: create your own 1-2-3 recipe. Be sure to tell us what your ingredients are ;)

Each side of my layout has 1 border punch (Martha Stewart - Doily Lace), 2 patterned papers (green stripe is My Minds Eye and pink floral is Recollections) and both have 3 word titles :) Easy cheesy right?!

And look what you have a chance to win..

The April kit from Artful Delight!

Just link up your 1-2-3 paper projects by Tuesday at noon. And stop by TPV to see what the rest of the design team created! :)

Have a great week!

A wedding card :)

My best friend from college is getting married this weekend and I wanted to make her a special card. I used my favorite wedding cartridge, Sweethearts, that my sweet friend Sue picked up for me at her Michaels when they were having that crazy $10 sale!

I made a faux shaped card I guess you'd say :) The blue scallop rectangle is standard card sized that I layered on a card base I trimmed down... clear as mud?

I embossed the beige layer with my Victorian embossing folder and lightly inked the impression with brown dye ink to give it more definition. I also inked the other edges and their last name (cut with SCAL).

Is it too soon to say TGIF?! ;)

There's No Bunny Like You :)

There's a spring color challenge up this week at Cricut Cardz!

I used the sketch this week at Card Patterns.

Create a card using your cricut - using the colors pink, green, and white!

I new I wanted to create a bunny card - but used the one from Create a Critter, this time. I forgot how much I *LOVE* this cartridge! I found this piece of pink/green/white plaid patterned paper in my scrap box (I KNEW I saved it for a reason! LOL!) that was perfect for this challenge.

Yes, that's another one of Emma's "Color Me Happy" Easter stamps. I just *love* the fun sentiments and fonts.

As you can see my little bunny is on pop dots, too! I love how this one turned out. Check out what the rest of the DT created and link up your Cricut Cardz right here! :)

Be sure to see the other card I made with her stamp set and the current challenge at The Paper Variety on the post below this :)

I'm also linking this card up to Wee MemoriesLawnscaping, Flaunt it Fridays and Cardz TV.

The Paper Variety: Tic Tac Toe!

This week at The Paper Variety, we have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge! :)

Just create a project with 3 elements in a row.

Stop by the TPV blog to see the fabulous combinations the design team created!

I used the far right vertical row - a card with scallops and a stamped sentiment.

I cut my "little chick" isn't so little - by the time I cut the nest and egg shell on my cricut he measured over 5 inches! So I ended up making this 5 1/2" square card. The sentiment really should say "Mother Nature.. you crack me up" as snow is in our forecast for the next week. Yikes!

Can't wait to see what you come up with for this challenge!

We have an awesome kit from Birds of a Feather for a random participant! :)

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday!

I can't believe my "baby" brother is 19... we are exactly ten years apart. Which means I'm almost 30 *gasp*!

Anyway, I knew I wanted to use pictures from his birthday dinner with the Jillibean Soup "Spotted Owl" soup papers from the March Artful Delight Kit.

Except the colors were bright greens and blues. And the pictures I had were very dark with reds and blacks and browns from the restaurant we were in. I still wanted to use them, but printed them all in black and white. I wasn't quite sure if I'd like it but I *love* the result.

I just couldn't decide whether to use the front or the back of the patterned papers - and which ones? They are all so adorable! Then, I found a sketch from Alison Dravis, one of my favorites for double page layouts.

I cut the paper into rectangles (after some careful measuring, lol) and inked the edges in black to accent the black and white photos. I was inspired by the current challenge at Frosted Designs. So, "fussy cut" 2 of the banners from the patterned paper for my title. I popped them up, too.

I took a black sharpie to the brown journaling sprouts in the kit to coordinate with my layout a little better. The flower embellishments are from Basic Grey's Marjolaine line. Leann does such a fantastic job at putting the kits together!

Be sure to stop by the Artful Delight blog today. I believe there is just one March kit left in stock. But if not, treat yourself and order April's kit. You won't be disappointed. So far I've made 4 layouts and have PLENTY left over for 4 more.

Have a great Monday!

Friday Night Lights :)

I love the challenge prompts at What is your favorite thing? The current favorite is pastimes. One of my hubby and I's favorite memories are high school football games... sitting in the cold bleachers, eating concession stand fries, showing your school spirit and of course - homecoming! We try to make it at least one game each fall.

I just love how this turned out! So simple, but so fun. I let my Cricut and Sure Cuts a Lot do most of the work with the lettering and shadows.

I also used my Boys Will Be Boys cartridge to make these football embellishments. I embossed them with my Tiny Bubbles cuttlebug folder for dimension.

I added a few buttons with twine to the 2nd page end zone to add a pop of yellow from the title on the first page.

Also joining the fun at:
The Cuttlebug Spot (cuttlebug/twine)
Scrappy-Mom Stamps (B is for Boy cartridge)

Hope you're having a great Saturday! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I made this quick card for my hubby today - so no big embellishments, ribbon, or frills ;)

Just the adorable, dancing leprechaun from Simply Charmed!

He definitely is my good luck charm! I'm so lucky to have him in my life and by my side :)

I'm linking this lil project up with Flaunt it Fridays and Fantabulous Cricut!

Have a great day!

Wacky Wednesday!

I was so thrilled when Paula from More Than Favors invited me to be a guest designer on her blog today! It's WACKY WEDNESDAY and the theme is "St. Patrick's Day" :)

I used the current sketch at Sketch Inspirations for my multi-photo layout.

This is our ADORABLE niece Alexandra. While at my sister-in-law's bridal shower, she set up camp next to the food table and smiled sweetly at everyone who walked by - asking of course for a cupcake ;) So sneaky!

I  used my FAVORITE leprechaun from Simply Charmed, with a winking Peachy Keen face.

I used the same shape/shadow as my background mat, as I did for the journaling box - doing white stitching around each. I really like how it turned out!

The green patterned paper is so shimmery! Both that paper and the shamrock base paper are from Reminisce. I love stopping by my LSS for themed papers! ;)

THANKS again Paula for letting me join your team for a week. Be sure to stop by More Than Favors to see more of the design team projects and enter your own :)

I am also linking this project up to:

Peachy Keen Challenge (stitching/face)

Have a great week!

Redwoods

I loved the sketch on the Cosmo Cricket blog last week and new I wanted to use one of the collections I'd been "saving" (okay hoarding.. hehe) for a while.

Sketch1

"Mr. Campy" is definitely an "oldie but a goodie" ;) It was perfect for some of the hiking photos from our San Fransisco anniversary trip.

I used one of the border strips along the bottom and a journaling card for beside the photo. I "fussy cut" the leaves from the patterned paper to make an embellishment cluster, brought together with a few buttons and twine knots.

I used some patterned paper scraps to cut 1.5" circles and make this cute banner for my title. I strung it with twine and tied in a bow on either side.

I really like how it turned out! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a great weekend! :)

He's Proof :)

I made another layout with the wonderful Artful Delight March kit!

This time I used the April Guest DT sketch challenge at Sketchy Thursdays!

I love showcasing special photos on one page layouts :) This is my good friend Michelle's baby boy! I was lucky enough to watch him for a few hours and captured this adorable smile.

As my hubby and I continue to find our path to parenthood, Levi is my reminder that it's going to work out :) The journaling says "He's proof. That everything happens for a reason. That babies are worth the wait."

I used the Little Yellow Bicycle "Twig" papers and number border. I added "months" under the 5! :)

These adorable felties are from Basic Grey's "Marjolaine" collection.

Be sure to stop by Artful Delight to see more of the design team's work. Leanne only has a few kits left so act fast! :)

Have a great weekend!!
