A No Photo Layout ?

This may be a first for me. This is going to be the first layout in our honeymoon album. I never know how to start the first page, because I do mostly 2 pagers especially with 'theme' albums. I decided to make a pocket (drawn, cut with my cricut using SCAL, and stitched) and embellish it. I love how it turned out! And believe me, I thought the no photo layout challenge was going to be really hard. I included our itinerary, flight plans, and copies of our passports. I might add to it as I find more memorabilia. Maybe I should do one like this for the wedding scrapbook and include our save the date, rehearsal dinner invite, formal invitation, and church program?

Interested in something like this for your scrapbook? I love custom orders.

Another Reason Why I Love Pink :)

I love the color pink. Recently, I found a blog through Treasured Scrapbooking and she goes by Pinky! I check Pinky's blog often for cool layouts, video tutorials AND the funky headers she makes out of her scrappin's supplies. A few days ago, she was offering a sweet giveaway to comment-ers and she chose me! More touching, she left some really sweet comments on her blog about mine. Thanks again Pinky ~ I really appreciate what you said about my "motto" about having a blog to hopefully inspire others because I get so much information from others. Yours is definately at the top of my list! So please go check out Pinky's blog and also send her some happy throughts, she just put an offer in on a house! :)

Meet and Greet

Here is the sketch for 52 Weeks 52 Sketches. I actually finished my layout before Sunday night! It came together quick after I decided on the pics. I used it for a wedding layout to tell this story..

Journaling reads: "After the ceremony, we put our own creative spin on things. The wedding party walked down the aisle and met in the lobby. When Reverend Kate announced us “Mr. & Mrs. Spokus”, we dismissed the seated guests by ushering each row out. Since our church was downtown, there was no room for a receiving line (and with 200 guests that would be impractical). This way, we were able to say hello and personally thank each person for coming. I loved it because some guests were not able to stay for the dinner or the whole reception and we wouldn’t have gotten the opportunity to see them."

I used a digital cutter file for the Martha Stewart loopy punch and made the frame on my Cricut using SCAL. I love the thickers title with the overlapping "&". Notice how I cheated on the "ee"s in "greet". LOL!

Truly Madly Deeply

Who remembers this great song?

*sigh* I love Savage Garden and the song fit perfectly for my latest wedding layout. I was inspired by the classy sketch from Sketchy Thursdays.
After the ceremony, Dave and I took a horse drawn carriage ride to the beautiful and historical Gettysburg battlefields. We found 2 little spots that were soo perfect. It was a tad muddy, but I didn't care. I have been wanting to do a truly fall page and since tomorrow is the first day of Autumn I seized the moment.
I used my Sure Cuts A Lot to cut the "top note" background in an olive color and matted on the bright reddish purplish cardstock. I stitched the frame in brown to make it stand out. These are a few of the actual leaves we had scattered about at the reception. I had gotten them in a huge pack at Michaels.
I kept thinking this page needed something. But, when Dave got home from work his "WOAH" reaction said it was just fine. First time in a long time that I made a layout with just cardstock and a picture and a few embellishments. I have become so addicted to patterned paper, it was nice to get back to basics - even for just one layout.

52 Weeks 52 Sketches

I wasn't going to enter this week, so much going on. But I knew I would be kicking myself if I didn't! I used the negative space from my 'groomsmen' layout for the red background with the circle cut out. Also, used some scraps from my DCWV green stack. These are before and after shots of our living room. I love documenting the everyday. The stuff I know I'd forget if I didn't have pics of it.

Beware of Dog

Isn't he menacing?! This is my 4 legged son Jax. Layout is actually an "oldie". I'm scrapping today for a monthly layout challenge and won't be able to post it just yet. But since my boy is guarding my scrappin space from any approaching predators, I thought I would dig out a layout for him to be in the limelight instead.

PS - stay tuned for a big blog candy to be announced October 1st!

Fresh Start

I reorganized my scrap space tonight and I found some pics I forgot we had. Better yet, there were a few wallets that worked out perfect for the Sketchy Thursday sketch: Just in time!Simple, quick, I like it. Yes, I realized after I uploaded the pics my little bling gem had come unstuck on the flower. I fixed it, but didn't take a new pic. Time for bed!

A new reason to love Thursdays.

For a while, I lived for Thursdays because it was "must see tv" and I am a Friends fanatic. Now, Thursdays mean Greys Anatomy and McDreamy. Today, I found another reason to love Thursdays.

Aren't these guys handsome?

I had this Page Maps sketch saved on my computer in a 'wedding layouts' file. I knew it would be great for some of the formal shots. I decided to use it today on the rest of the pics of Dave with his groomsmen. I used the left side to showcase the best man, followed by 4 pics of Dave with each of the groomsmen. I think it turned out really nice - and might do the same thing with the bridesmaids.

Here's the first page. I love these thickers! I think the red as an accent really pops. This is my first time using a gel pen on a layout. I'm a black or brown kinda girl, so the white really was really outside my box. But I love how turned out.

Aren't these guys handsome? I used my accent essentials cartridge for the flowers and brads I picked up at the dollar tree! Also used the treading water punch from Friskars.

Here are how the layouts look together in the album. Click to see it larger :)

Sunday Sketch & Swim Meet

Here was the Sketch for 52 Weeks 52 Sketches...

And here is my take. I mixed it up and used the title circle for my journaling and my journal strips for the title spot. The colors really pop off the black background, which was part of a challenge on our yahoo group.
This is my husband, Dave, with his niece Isabella. She was the beautiful flower girl in the wedding layouts. She is on the swim team and is very good! Here are 2 more layouts from that day.

Something Old, Something New

These pages preceed my early ones "something borrowed", and "something blue". I used a page maps sketch and it was the perfect fit!

Here is my "something old" page. Photos of my mom in her wedding dress and journaling the story behind it. It was my Aunt's and she borrowed it from her. Since my Aunt has all boys, she offered it to me to wear. For personal reasons, that was a no.

My "something new" is my Aunt had a little bag made with the dress for me. She also had ones made for her future daughter-in-laws since she wore it too. It was such a nice and unexpected gesture. I love how this page includes the inside of the card she wrote. The ribbon in this page is straight in real life, not sure how that happens when I take a photo of a layout.

Here is what the pages look like next to each other. I love how it turned out!

Fall Card

The creative juices are flowing tonight :) I made this card for Mojo Monday's sketch challenge. I love the fall colors. The butterfly stamp is an all time fav from a Stampin' Up set called "Something Marvelous".

I heart felt.

I heart felt embellishments! I decided to make a few of my own for a scrapbook page and a swap I am in. Here are the results.
Aren't they delicious!
Use them to clip papers, as bookmarks or as an embellishment.
