Life's a Picnic! :)

At least that's the theme for this week's Cricut Cardz challenge ;) To create a card using a picnic or cookout theme. I looked through my cartridges and decided on Simply Charmed, because of the super cute hamburger and hot dog. But then I was stuck.

I browsed online and came across my new favorite site for .svg files: Lettering Delights. They have the neatest little cookout set called Backyard Fun. As soon as I saw the ketchup and mustard bottles, I knew what I wanted to make.

I just love how it turned out! The LD svg files are so cute and easy to layer! I made a 4 1/2" square easel card, printing my sentiment on the computer. The patterned paper is from my scrap bin and I believe it is Cosmo Cricket's "Get Happy" line.

This card DOES make me happy ;) It'll be for my hubby who has been SO supportive during our journey to parenthood  He likes mustard on everything. I like ketchup. So this card fits perfectly!

Go check out Cricut Cardz to see what the rest of the DT created and enter your own picnic/cookout themed cards. Can't wait to see them!

Sketch Challenge! :)

Time for another challenge at The Paper Variety! :)

I have to tell you how much I love the girls on my Team B team! These are a great group of creative and kind ladies that not only provide inspiration here at The Paper Variety, for me, and for all of you - but have become wonderful friends! This is their final challenge as TPV dt members, but I don't want this to be the last you see of them ;) Please take a moment to go to their personal blogs (if you haven't already!) and follow them. All links are over at The Paper Variety.

This sketch comes from one of my favorite sketch sources, Page Maps! You can find this gem in their June 2011 maps

Our prize this week is Artful Delight's JULY kit !! Come back Friday to hear about what's in this awesome kit and more about Leanne's website

These are photos of our anniversary trip to San Francisco last November. We took a ferry boat ride to Alcatraz. It was SO interesting. This is the first of MANY photos/layouts of our tour.

In addition to a layout you can also make a card or other paper project as long as you incorporate similar elements/design of the sketch.
We can't wait to see your takes on this week's challenge!

See what the rest of the DT created and link up your projects at The Paper Variety! :)

Love this Furry Face! :)

Loved this sketch at The Scrappiest and made a page about Jax with it this evening.

I really like how it turned out! The title was inspired by the song at Scrap It With a Song - I went with the word "face". :)

I'm also entering this at Sketches In Thyme :)

Celebrate!

I was not sure when I saw this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration!

But the Echo Park prize was irresistible, so I gave it a go... and I love how my layout turned out!! :)

I used my We R Memory Keeper's Funfetti collection and some older pictures I had leftover from THIS layout I blogged earlier this year.

I just love the WRMK cardstock stickers. I layered them here with some popdots.

I'm also linking this layout up to Sketches In Thyme's open sketch challenge!

Have a great weekend! :)

You are my "son"shine :)

TGIF everyone! :) I've been working on a baby album for my best friend who is due in September. I'm going to be making a 2 page layout for each month of the year, in addition to traditional baby pages. With so many "sunny" and "summer" challenges going on, I was inspired to create this June page!

{click to view larger}

I used my new favorite Simply Charmed cartridge to cut this sun and tree. I added a Peachy Keen face and stitching to give them personality. I just love how the sun turned out!

I used my Hero Arts woodgrain background stamp on the trunk to make the tree come to life. I love that stamp!

The cloud patterned paper and sticker letters are from Echo Park's Summertime collection. They give a really fun look to any layout!

The 2nd part of the title has a play on the word sunshine. I used my Sure Cuts a Lot program and the "Cafe Rojo" font.

I'm entering this layout into a few summery/sunny challenges:

There's still plenty of time to join in on The Paper Variety's summer challenge, too!

Thanks for stopping by today :)

A Birthday Cupcake :)

I made this little cupcake card today using the Simply Charmed cartridge. I cut it at 5 1/2" to fit in a standard sized envelope and it is about 4" wide.

Unfortunately it is really hot, humid, and overcast here in PA today so the photo isn't the best! I added yellow stickles to the candle flame and some diamond stickles to the icing. Love the sparkle! The sentiment is Scrappy Mom Stamps Everyday Greetings set.

I made this card with some sweet challenges in mind :)

My Principal :)

Wahoo!! So glad to get back to scrapping this afternoon :) I made a layout for my school album {{I'm a first grade teacher by day}} inspired by the school challenge at ScrapFit and this month's Artful Delight sketch.

I flipped the sketch to make it flow better with my picture. I just love these We R Memory Keepers "Show and Tell" papers and stickers.

I knew I wanted to do a lot of journaling about my former principal {{he retired at the end of last school year}} so this lined, shaped paper was perfect!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Mixing it Up!

If you're like me you have TONS of alpha stickers! Even with my cricut and font cartridges, and my computer, and my many alphabet stamp sets -- I still can not resist a pack of cute set of letter stickers!

Tiny, chunky, glittery, uppercase, loopy, chipboard, I love them ALL.

So why not mix it up this week?

The challenge at THE PAPER VARIETY is..

Our prize this week is sponsored by Close To My Heart demonstrator Dana Swadling. Check back Friday for more information on her business! These clear stamps are HUGE! These would look great on a scrapbook page.

I just had to use 2 of my FAVORITE alphas on this fun card: Echo Park and Thickers! This is a special birthday card for a special 8 year old girl ;)

The orange/blue piece is popped for dimension :)

We can't wait to see what projects you come up with this week! Remember to include at least 2 different types of alphas/fonts for a chance to win our stamp prize.

Stop by THE PAPER VARIETY! to see the rest of the DT inspiration and enter your paper project.

Also, our DT CALL continues through June 24th :) Don't miss out!

Cricut Cardz - Challenge #79

I  really struggle with masculine cards - ESPECIALLY Father's Day cards, but that's the challenge this week at Cricut Cardz! Create a Father's Day card using any cartridge of your choice.

Boy was I inspired when I saw Mary's latest YouTube video! She used origimi to create the COOLEST little polo shirt! See her video HERE.

I decided to give it a whirl. She used a 4x6 piece of patterned paper, I increased mine to 6x9 (and made 2 cards using one sheet of 12x12 paper). Trust me, the thinner the paper, the better ;) And it only needs to be one sided!

I used this cool blue/black/white plaid from my stash. It came together so quickly and you don't need adhesive, but I used a bit just to keep it secure since it's a larger shirt, it was a bit more bulky.

I embellished my shirt with the tie from Simply Charmed cut at 2 3/4". Of course, the cut also came with an adorable face and stripes, but didn't really go with my shirt - so I kept it simple.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts, from a great "happy everything" stamp set. I really like how it turned out!

Be sure to stop by Cricut Cardz and check out what the rest of the design team created and link up your own Father's Day cricut cards ;)

Happy Dad's Day

I finally found both TIME and my MOJO and worked on a card tonight and plan to make some layouts too :) I started out with this Card Patterns sketch - but my card sort of took a life of it's own!

I just love this argyle patterned paper from Graphic 45's "A Proper Gentlemen" collection. My hubby is a golfer and use it often!

The die cut is from the Celebrate With Flourish cricut cartridge and I'm entering this into Emma's challenge to use a lite cart! I trimmed the left side to fit on the card. I'm also linking up to CAS-ual Friday's tic tac toe challenge (buttons, die cut, emboss).

The sentiment is embossed in black from Hero Arts. Maybe I can tuck this card away for next year ;)

It's not too late to enter this week's Paper Variety masculine challenge, either! Just link up before noon EST tomorrow for a chance to win some Nikki Sivils goodies!! :) See THIS POST for details.

Summer Lovin'...

Summer lovin' had me a blast... Summer lovin' happened so fast...

You know you know the song ;) I love Grease!

And I love this sketch from Sweet Peach Crop Shop this month!

I had to use it with pictures of me and  my summer love at the beach last weekend. I used Fancy Pants' "Lovebirds" collection.

I used my favorite Peachy Keen "everyday face assortment" with this sun from the Create a Critter cartridge.

The center photo and banner are both popped up for added dimension. The title was made using American Crafts' Thickers in the typo font, mustard color.

Hope you're having a great Saturday! :)

Kauai :)

Lots of challenges inspired this layout {other than my determination to finally tackle my Hawaii album once and for all}... First off, this super cute sketch from Sketchy Thursdays, posted today!

Here's the layout I made!

As part of the Scrappy Mom Stamps "Life's A Beach" challenge, I used that cartridge to cut my favorite Hibiscus flower out at 3 1/2". I popped up the flower part and doodled with a white gel pen. Since I made this paper piecing, I'm linking up to Lasting Memories' challenge too!

I also cut the title out from the same cartridge, at 1 1/4". I wish this cart had a shadow feature though! ;)

For Amanda's "Get Scrappy" challenge, you needed to make a layout using your cricut AND use a stamp. I just had to add my favorite sentiment from my new Scrappy Mom's summer set - "Mahalo" which is "thank you" in Hawaiian.

Thanks for stopping by today! It feels good to make layouts again (after several card posts).
