Ride the Saddle :)

Happy Sunday! I'm so sad that July just FLEW by!! I have a layout to share with the sketch that Julie Bonner created for Boys Rule:

Isn't it awesome? I used my new (to me) October Afternoon "Sasparilla" collection to make this layout:

Love my embarrassed expression? Let me explain haha. It was my 30th birthday... a birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse with my fam. Apparently they make you sit on a saddle while they sing to you and then you have to yell YE-HAW! OMG.... I swore I wouldn't do it, but glad I did. Only turn 30 once right? HA!

Loving this cowgirl diecut; I popped her up :) I used the bandana photo corners to symbolize the ribbon cut shapes in the sketch. Love how they turned out... triangles are trending aren't they?

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

Quick Quotes: Itty Bitty Vellum!

Good morning.. TGIF!

It's my turn again to share a project on the Quick Quotes blog. This time we're highlighting our Itty Bitty vellum quotes!

These vellum sentiments came from the Holiday and Events Itty Bitty Box set... a must have! It contains 50 poems/quotes/sentiments from Mother's Day to anniversaries to... birthdays!

I created one card portrait and one landscape, using papers from the "Summer Breeze" line, Powder Puff Chalk Inks, purple gingham ribbon - and of course the vellum.

I attached the vellum to the cardstock mats with 4 tiny brads in coordinating colors.

Stop by the Quick Quotes blog to see what the rest of design team members are creating with these itty bitty vellums!

Roses :)

I *love* roses.. and the rose in the "Pretty Momma" stamp set from Paper Smooches is one of my all time favorites.

I love paper piecing it! So when I saw the photo inspiration for this week's Sparks challenge.. I knew it was being put to work!

I loved the 3 panel design and color combination of white, yellow, and blue on kraft inked in black. Here's my card!

I paper pieced each of the roses (the yellow is my favorite !!) and popped them up from the kraft layers. I stamped the "love, admire, respect you" sentiment beneath the sheer ribbon. I really like how that looks!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great night and upcoming weekend :)

Christmas in July :)

Whew.. it is soooo HOT here! Feels funny making a snowman card in this heat, but it did make me feel just a LITTLE bit cooler ;) It's Mary's "Christmas in July" prompt this week (use a snowman or snowflake or both!):

Isn't she cute?? I cut the snowman from an .SVG file I had and stamped her with a Peachy Keen face :) I layered her on the blue frame (also cut with an .SVG file) and popped that up to stand out against the red.

The patterned papers are from an older Imaginisnce line.. I wish I could remember the name! lol! It was great to use up some favorite scraps though ;) I embellished with 2 punched snowflakes (from my new-to-me Martha punch!), with some Bo Bunny bling in the center.

The sentiment comes from Scrappy Mom Stamp's  "Sunkissed".. pretty funny for a holiday card, right? That's "Christmas in July" for ya ;) You can check out Mary's challenge HERE. I'm also entering this at My Craft Spot's same themed challenge HERE.

Have a great night! :)

Quick Quotes: Canvas Project!

Good morning!

It's my day to share my canvas project on the Quick Quotes blog. I have never worked with canvas - let me tell you, you NEED to try it if you haven't either! Quick Quotes sells canvas in varying sizes; for my project I used the 12x12 variety.

I wanted to make a home decor wedding present for my friend who is getting married in 2 weeks. I used the new "Summer Breeze" collection:

I inked the edges of the canvas with Very Berry Powder Puff Chalk Ink. These inks cover the canvas SO nicely! I used patterned papers from Summer Breeze to create 3 photo mats and the background. My sentiment is the half page vellum "Families are Tied Together".

I created my "heart strings" for her wedding date using the purple gingham ribbon and diecut hearts using the same patterned paper. The numbers are her wedding date :)

I hope she enjoys it, as much as I enjoyed making it for her! I'm also linking this up at ScrapFit for their "home" challenge :)

Be sure to stop by the Quick Quotes blog to see what the other designers created with canvas.. gorgeous stuff!!

Helloooo summer! :)

I  made another layout with Echo Park's "Hello Summer" using this sketch from Frosted Designs:

Here's my layout about our first summer Saturday:

I had a bunch of random pics from that day - yard sales, lunch date, dinner on the grill, setting up our neighbor's picnic table, buying wood for the nursery :) So, I created a 5x7 photo collage t accommodate the one photo sketch.

Yes, that's a silly pic of a watermelon in a highchair sporting a hand drawn face LOL! Summer silliness ;) I backed all of these fun papers with a thin, black mat to make the brights POP.

Aren't those glazed, candy brads fun?? I also popped up the birdies ;)

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday!! :)

Buzzworthy!

Happy Friday everyone! It's been a doozy of a week here; excited for a (hopefully haha) relaxing weekend at home. I loved the color inspiration this week at Paper Smooches!

I used the "Giddy Bugs" set to paper piece my yellow bee on the light blue "sky". I hand cut the clouds. I love the polaroid trend right now!!

I created the background by repeatedly stamping the hexagons with the "Geographic" stamps set. The tiny heart in the "Giddy Bugs" set was perfect for a few pops of red.

I added a tiny bit of diamond stickles to make his wings sparkle :) Cute, no? Now I just need some {{happy}} buzzworthy news to drop this card in the mail! lol!

Have a great weekend! :)

Guess "Whoo" Loves You?

I've been making lots of cuts from my "Hoot 'n Holler" cricut cartridge as my school mascot is an owl and I'm busy creating things for my classroom this summer. I decided to use one of the cuts on this week's Cricut Cardz challenge "Tag You're It!"

Isn't he the cutest?? All papers are from a My Minds Eye 6x6 pad.

I used my "Owl Occasions" sentiments from Scrappy Mom Stamps on my tiny tag.

Check out the "Tag You're It" challenge HERE and see what the rest of the design team created. I hope you play along! Have a great week :)

Happy as a Clam

TGIF! How was your week?? I've been working on this layout for a couple days and am "happy as a clam" to call it done ;) I really like how it turned out !!

I used the new "Makin' Waves" line from Imaginisce and am entering it in their "sunny" July challenge:

Our niece, Alexandra, definitely was "happy as a clam in the sand" playing at the beach !! Forget the sandcastle, she was so content just to sit in the wet sand and play.

Look at that smile! :) :) I made a "photo corner" using surf boards I cut from one of the patterned papers in the collection, embellished with a twine tied button.

I love adding detail to the super cute die cuts from Imaginisce. I used yellow stickles and google eyes on the sun to really make him shine (above) and REAL sand from the beach on the sandcastle (below). The little crabby got google eyes too ;) Couldn't leave anyone out!

I cut my larger title using the orange chevron B side to one of the patterned papers using my cricut - and the subtitle at the bottom with mini alphas. I added buttons to balance out the opposite corner. I tore the craft paper to resemble more sand :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! I hope you did something that made you "happy as a clam in the sand: :) Speaking of which, I'm also sharing this layout at Scrapfit for using a long title!

Have a fabulous weekend. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain!

At The Track

Simple Stories is fast becoming one of my favorite new companies! I recently picked up some of the Awesome line from A Walk Down Memory Lane and put it to work on this month's Artful Delight sketch.

This line is perfect for boy pages. I used pictures from when my bestie and I took her son to the racetrack for the first time. It came together so fast!

Try not to be too distracted by all that cuteness ;) ;) I distressed the edges of the kraft layers to go with the theme and I popped up the star elements.

Thanks for stopping by today!! :)

Butterflies

Ever have a card that was awesome in your head and starts off just the way you had planned and somehow turns out totally wrong? This is THAT card.

It all started from this fun sketch from The Paper Bakery.

I thought "oh it would be really cool to punch a bunch of butterflies and have them flying off the card". I think it was the black stitching that pushed me over the edge. I should have stopped while I was ahead! lol!
